As the
comic says - Harpy Tar, everyone!
Don't get it? Well, it's mostly an injoke caused by a secret
at Homestar Runner.
Actually, it's not so much of a secret as something the Brothers
Chaps never used, but people discovered. The Chapstick Duo
(Heh) had some sort of mini flash movie that would have loaded
into to the menu pages that says "HAPPY T!" Each
of the letters could be clicked on to hear a H*R character
wish you a happy (American) Thanksgiving. Coach Z's greeting
was extremely garbled, thanks to his outrageous accent. It
sounds something like "Harpy Tar!"
Thus, this became a personal injoke for me ever since I first
discovered it. Given the original purpose of the Harpy Tar,
I figured it'd be a good refrence ... thingummy... to use
here, today, on Thanksgiving.
This comic also marks the entrance of Gut Funk as an official
RW cast member. Everyone shower him with your chicken legs!
He'll explode gratutiously if you do.
Why did Gut Funk get pecoized in this comic? Aside from the
fact that it's just too perfect for Nth to cause more mischef,
it's also a refrence to another ancient Prontera Parish injoke
- Gut Funk used to parade around as a pecopeco. Of late he's
preferred to explode gratuitously, but I've never forgotten
that - I figured this would be an excellent time to bring
it all together!
Some of you people may notice that a LOT of stuff here is
retouched pictures from previous RWs. In fact, the only things
completely original in this particular comic are anything
of Gut Funk's, the little picture of Sniff in the panel with
me and Lunaris (not to mention his eye and the final panel),
as well as Lenz and Zelse's cameos. That's it - everything
else is from a previous RW.
Some of which, of course, has been retouched beyond recognition
- which only applies to Nth (whose source image comes from
his frames in "Nth Power's Soda Enterprises") and
Lunaris, which was an overhaul using two sources - the previous
comic ("What's In A Name?") and "Gender Bending."
Why did I reuse a lot of images? Well, given the size of this
comic, I simply wouldn't have had the time to go and create
original drawings for all the characters. I spent a lot of
time retouching Lunaris and Nth for their cameos, as well
as Gut Funk's. Had I gone and drawn everything, then colored
it from scratch, either it would have been close to midnight
before I'd've finished my updates, or it would have been the
next day... and then the day after that I'd have to do the
comic for the 30th.
I actually do have a habit of reusing images and retouching
them, but I don't abuse it as badly as I have here.
AND LOOK! THE MAGINATOR IS BACK! This makes fourteen people
who've appeared in the Tar-key(fu?) day comic.
Once again - HARPY TAR!!11
